Project H085
Top-Down Emissions Verification (TDEV) of Houston Ship Channel Sources during TexAQS II

Project Period:06/30/2007 - 08/31/2008
Total Budget:$72,000
Sub-Contractors:University of Alabama-Huntsville

The goal of this project is to improve Houston VOC emissions inventories (including the inference of direct formaldehyde emissions) based on SOF and aircraft measurements of NOx, VOCs, ozone, and other secondary products of VOC-NOx chemistry, obtained on September 13, 2006 during TexAQS II. TDEV will be performed using a Lagrangian Reactive Plume Model (LRPM). The study complements a parallel project by the TCEQ deploying the Large Eddy Simulation model with chemistry (LES-chem) to perform TDEV of petrochemical sources in Houston (Work Order No. 582-7-83975-02). By design, the project will be finished in the succeeding biennium. The current biennium’s final report documents progress as of December 2007. Work performed thus far includes collection and examination of the necessary input data, and upgrading of the LRPM with CB05 chemistry.
