During the Summer of 2005 TERC sponsored several projects in support of the TexAQS II Field Campaign. One project used an aircraft that tracked the flight path of controllable balloons to help identify the path of the pollution plume leaving the Houston area. Another project examined modeling that could be used to determine how plumes from individual plants impact the DFW area. A third project examined the impact of stagnant fronts on creating ozone. All of these projects were supported with extensive meteorological and chemical analysis instrumentation, including a PTR-MS which can measure volatile organic compounds in near real-time.
