This workshop explained the EPA's environmental technology needs and teach small businesses how to win contracts under EPA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. The Program is geared towards for-profit technology and science based firms with no more than 500 employees.
The SBIR solicitation will include topics related to retrofitting off-road diesel construction equipment for NOx reduction, fuel additives to reduce emissions from gasoline engines and new non-ethanol and non-biodiesel liquid biofuels. The research topics were developed in cooperation with the Texas Environmental Research Consortium (TERC), Texas New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) Program and the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC).
This workshop included:
- Details on the latest EPA SBIR opportunity to receive up to $415K from the EPA
- The latest information on EPA SBIR funding and research solicitations
- Education on how to prepare a winning SBIR proposal
- Information on collaboration between the Texas programs and the SBIR program
- An opportunity to network with other small businesses
- An opportunity to tour the University of Houston Diesel Test Facility
