Development of a Urea-SCR System
| Sub-Grantees: | Mack Trucks Inc. - Subsidiary of Volvo Powertrain
|
Volvo Powertrain is proposing the development of Urea SCR technology to reduce NOx emissions for the existing Heavy Duty Trucks in Texas non-attainment areas. The effort suggests a NOx reduction of a minimum of 50% and maximum of 80%, without any changes to the performance of the engine. Volvo Powertrain and Mack Trucks, partnering with Southwest Research Center, are capable and committed to conduct the necessary design, analysis and testing for this effort and a detailed plan to complete this task is described along a projected timeline. Targeted engines are model year 1991 through 2002 Mack and Volvo (on-road) diesel engines.
