Hydrocarbon SCR Retrofit System

In response to the anticipated need of retrofit options for compliance with upcoming EPA regulations, Volvo Powertrain is proposing the development of Hydrocarbon SCR technology to reduce NOx emissions for the currently operational Heavy Duty trucks in east Texas. The effort suggests a NOx reduction of a minimum of 30% and maximum of 50%, without any changes to the performance of the engine and minimum maintenance. Hydrocarbon SCR has been the subject of in-house testing at Volvo Powertrain and the capability of the technology has been demonstrated. Volvo Powertrain and Mack Trucks partnering with Southwest Research Center, are fully capable and committed to conduct the necessary design, analysis and testing for this effort and a detailed plan to complete this task is described along a projected timeline.
